Our mission

Why we exist, what we believe, and the promise we make every time you open a story.

Most people don’t experience the news anymore. They experience fragments of it — a clip, a screenshot, a headline with the backstory torn off, hitting an audience it was never written for. That’s called context collapse, and it’s the default way the modern world reaches you. We built this place to do the opposite. We exist to put the context back.

That’s the whole idea behind the name. Context Collapse is the problem — everything arrives flattened, stripped of the history and stakes that make it make sense. And it’s our job — we hand you back the context the timeline ripped out, so a story you scrolled past actually clicks into place.

Why we exist

Because the people who most want to understand the world are the ones legacy media serves worst. If you’re under 30, you’re told you’re either too distracted to care or too online to think — and then handed either a 4,000-word think-tank brick or a rage-bait clip with no middle ground. We don’t buy the premise. The appetite for understanding geopolitics, history, and power is huge. What’s missing is someone willing to explain it like you’re smart and busy, instead of stupid and bored.

We assume you’re smart and busy — not stupid and bored. Everything we make starts there.

The manifesto

  1. Context is the product. Anyone can tell you what happened. We exist to tell you why it matters, where it came from, and what it means for you. The backstory isn’t a bonus — it’s the whole point.
  2. Receipts, always. Every claim links to a real source. If we can’t show our work, we don’t run it. Trust is the only thing we actually sell, and we refuse to spend it cheaply.
  3. Smart, never stuffy. Plain English, zero jargon you don’t need. If we use a big word, we define it in the same breath. Complexity is the subject, not the writing style.
  4. Have a take — and label it. Reporting and opinion are different things, and we never blur them. When we’re arguing, we say so. When we’re explaining, we keep ourselves out of it.
  5. Funny is a feature, not the point. The joke earns its place by making the idea stick. We’ll make you laugh, but never at the cost of getting it right.
  6. No doom for doom’s sake. The world is heavy enough without us farming your anxiety for clicks. We explain hard things clearly and honestly — without the manufactured panic.
  7. Made for the group chat. If you can’t repeat it at a party or paste it to a friend, we wrote it wrong. Understanding should be shareable.

The promise

Here’s what you can count on from us, every single time: we’ll be clear, we’ll be fair, we’ll show our sources, and we’ll respect both your intelligence and your time. We won’t talk down to you, we won’t rage-bait you, and we won’t pretend the world is simpler than it is. We’ll just give you the context — the story behind the story — and trust you to take it from there.

Because once you have the context, you don’t need anyone to tell you what to think. That’s the entire mission. Everything else is detail.

The Brief

One story, un-collapsed, every week. Three minutes. No jargon, no lectures — receipts included.
